A quick reference for your own targets: a typical cut runs 0.8 to 1g of protein per pound of goal bodyweight, so a 170-pound lifter aiming for that needs around 150 to 170g a day. The split I look for: fiber should be at least a quarter of total carbs in a whole food. A slice of bread reading 20g carbs and 1g fiber is mostly fast carbs. A slice reading 20g carbs and 6g fiber keeps you full for hours on the same calorie line. Same with cereal. A bowl at 40g carbs and 2g fiber empties in 90 minutes. A bowl at 40g carbs and 10g fiber does not.
You do not have to fear low-fiber carbs. White rice around a workout is fine. The point is to scan the split so you spend your high-fiber slots on the foods that hold you over and your low-fiber slots on purpose, near training, instead of by accident at breakfast.
